Scotland

I really had to pee. Yes, #1. So, I was quickly scrambling through the magical cobbled streets of Edinburgh in search of a toilet. I was focused, on a mission with my rain jacket hood engaged and the most intense look on my face. Next, the side of a massive fist pounded me on the chest and a big hand slapped my back. “Guid eenin! Hou ar ye? Cheer up laddie, you’re in Scotland now. Give us a wee smile!” That was the moment that I realized guardian angels DO exist in the form of large, half drunk Scottish men! After my chest bruises healed, I fell in love with Scotland…

Edinburgh was one of my favorite places. The pubs, ales, live music, castles, hikes and the Scottish accent all made my time there fantastic. The city was beginning to buzz in preparation for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – the largest arts festival in the world. I was excited to hang out with my Aussie friends Jack and Connor, AKA “Legends.” I met Jack Legend back in Croatia and we both happened to be in the U.K. so we teamed up again. This is the most fun part about backpacking through Europe! It is crazy how you continually run into friends you have made along the way. Young Ledge Connor came to Scotland to learn from me – THE Legend. Scotland is a very friendly place. The people are very open and willing to chat but Connor needed some training.

So, Connor, needed a lesson on how to talk to female strangers. Honesty, he was looking for a wife. Well, he came to the right place! (sarcastic) Haha, so, I channeled my inner Aziz Ansari and taught Young Ledge all he needed to know:

“Aw man, any cute girl you see, just go talk to her man. What’s gonna happen? What’s gonna happen? What’s gonna happen? Any cute girl you see, just say something. Anything. It doesn’t matter what. What’s gonna happen? What’s gonna happen? What’s gonna happen?”
*sorry for the explicit language in the video below

After a few rejections, followed by more of my expert guidence, Connor got engaged and he has hired me to sing at the wedding!

Jokes! Thanks to the Legends for all of the laughs!!

Legend on Tour

I took a three-day tour through the Scotland countryside up to the Isle of Skye. This was at the top of the most beauty nature experiences I have had in my life. Lochs, glens, munros, rain, sunshine, heaven. It was all so different from anything I have ever seen.

The tour guides were hilarious. One sounded exactly like Fat Bastard from that Austin Powers movies. Oh, I also ate haggis and I liked it. Google it. We went on a tour of the Tomatin distillery – a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in the village of Tomatin. We learned about the production process and got to taste a few samples, smoooooooooth.

scotland172Last but not least, I met the hairy cooooos! Also know as highland cattle, these guys were hilarious and even more friendly than Connor’s wife to be! The calf was aww que cute!!
